Pieter told me about his time working for an organisation where not everything was run above board:

You are blindfolded and led into a lodge where your heart’s desire to see light is granted to you.

Then you are introduced to three great lights, namely the sun that reigns over day, the moon over night, and the extreme honourable master who reigns over and instructs his brothers.

While my Bible tells me that God is the only light.

Before you know it, you have a human skull in your hand while you proclaim the address to the skull.

What was really disturbing was the fact that Sunday mornings the man sitting next to me put on his robe, stepped onto the pulpit and preached to a congregation.

If God is merciful towards you, He intervenes and you realise what you’re involved with.

I always say that if the things you do cannot be done above board, something does not smell right. Don’t do it. The smell will escape somewhere and the mess will land in your lap, because you see: You are without God’s protection. How can you ask God to protect you if you are scheming in the dark? Remember: God is the Light. Where He goes, darkness disappears and everything is out in the open. That’s why I always say: The truth will out.

⁴But friends, you’re not in the dark, so how could you be taken off guard by any of this? ⁵You’re sons of Light, daughters of Day. We live under wide open skies and know where we stand.

Yes. May this be true for you and for me. May our actions be actions of the light. Let’s make sure that everything we do – in the office, in my bedroom, and among friends be of such a nature that I would do it everywhere. Make sure that the organisations that you are involved with walk in the light and worship the only true Light.

And when you realise that some things do not fit in with God’s light, what then?

Pieter helps us with advice from his own life:

In my drunk and demonic days, God often pulled the rug from under me.

Every time I landed on my bum, I got up again and continued with my tricks.

Then, one day, He pulled the rug from under me and I landed on my knees. And here I still am, hoping to stay here for the rest of my life.
