God's word in today's world

On the way confidently and boldly

Adam and Eve’s sin had far-reaching consequences for all their descendants. Their decision to listen to the devil put up a wall between man and God. Man became afraid of God. The wall meant that God was inaccessible to ordinary people.

Fortunately, God had a plan. His plan was Jesus: 11All this is proceeding along lines planned all along by God and then executed in Christ Jesus.

Jesus was the central point of the plan. Jesus was the answer that would heal the relationship that man had destroyed. Jesus was the One who knocked over and broke down the wall that had been built by sin. Jesus formed the access to God: 12When we trust in him, we’re free to say whatever needs to be said, bold to go wherever we need to go.

In the past people feared God, but Jesus’ death on the cross repaired that relationship as it was originally. God’s plan worked. God was within reach of mankind again.

I suspect we do not always realise that the door to God is open. Many times we try to deal with the problems in our lives without taking it up with God. Often the results are catastrophic. We live our lives in that old way where God was inaccessible. Because of the many wrong things we did, we are ashamed or afraid of turning to God. We hide and in a way we put up that wall between us and God again.

It’s wrong to do that. Jesus knocked that wall down. From God’s perspective there is no wall anymore. On the contrary! He sits and waits for us to come to Him. He really wants to help us in our everyday lives. He wants to help us. He has all the knowledge and wants to advise us to make the correct decisions at the cross roads of our lives.

The original translation says that through grace we can boldly approach God with confidence. Do you hear what it says? We can go to God with our heads held high, quickly, freely and courageously. That is one of the benefits that we enjoy as children of God. God sits on the throne waiting for us to do it. Access to God had been paid. We only have to get up and go to Him.

Let’s be honest with one another now. Life out there is bad. There are so many things that never go the way we want them to. There are so many choices we have to make every day of our lives and actually we’re not able to make such choices on our own. We can’t see the bigger picture. The decision may seem like the best one to us, but we don’t know what the long-term impact will be. We need someone to help us. Someone who knows everything.

God knows. And He wants to help us.

That is a big promise to each of us. It brings with it lots of encouragement. The challenge now is for us to get up and go to God. With confidence, boldly, heads up, we can go to the Father and He will help us. He will direct our thoughts, He will help us open the right doors. Jesus did this for us.

This is all grace. Let’s live exactly like that today!

Scripture:

Ephesians 3:1-13

Reflection

Do you believe that Jesus had broken down the wall?

Do you live that life?

Do you live confidently and boldly?

Prayer

Thank you for the promise, Father. Thank you that Jesus had broken down the wall that sin had erected between us. Thank you that the door to You is standing open and that we may come to You boldly and confidently. Any time. Help us do that. Amen
