1 Sameul 3:19-21 Samuel grew up. God was with him, and Samuel’s prophetic record was flawless. Everyone in Israel, from Dan in the north to Beersheba in the south, recognized that Samuel was the real thing—a true prophet of God. God continued to show up at Shiloh, revealed through his word to Samuel at Shiloh.

In our days, we wrote everything on our CV. All achievements from pre-school to every course we did. Every bit of study and every certificate was attached. Even the Coca-Cola competition you almost won – or so you believe.

Nowadays a CV is only one page long, because you can get to know a person well reading between the lines of all the sentences on one page. That is, of course, assuming they are telling the truth!

You can read volumes from these few lines about Samuel. How could I not desire such a reputation – to be known as someone who always speaks the truth, and to whom others naturally listen?

Hannah was childless and promised the Lord that if He gave her a child, she would return that child to Him. Samuel grew up in the temple, as it were. God showed up regularly in Samuel’s life.

Samuel knew when it was God speaking to him and when it was his own wrestling thoughts. Therefore, when Samuel spoke, it was the truth, and God made it come true.

This did not only happen in the past. No, God is still in a relationship with each of His children today. Unfortunately, not all relationships are as intimate as the one between Samuel and God.

The element that muddies the drinking water and lightens the relationship is people. God, on the other hand, never changes. He is always ready. He is always waiting for us to show up.

Know that God also desires such an intimate relationship with you. He also wants to make your words come true. May it be written about you one day: the Lord knew that person well!

Father, I believe that You are in me. I know You long to have an intimate relationship with me. May I become quiet enough to hear You and love You …
