Genesis 6:7-8 God was sorry that he had made the human race in the first place; it broke his heart. God said, “I’ll get rid of my ruined creation, make a clean sweep: people, animals, snakes and bugs, birds—the works. I’m sorry I made them.” But Noah was different. God liked what he saw in Noah.

My friend really likes futuristic movies. The more outlandish the creatures that are coming to take over the earth, the more he enjoys it. He could watch these wild scenarios over and over, night after night. I, on the other hand, can’t watch movies like these at all. If something just seems like a monster from another world, I press the off button.

I wonder how Noah must have felt when God announced D-Day. Everything would come to an end. How hard must it have been to leave all the things that he had accumulated over the years just like that? How deep must the pain have been to leave his friends and acquaintances behind?

But Noah knew that disobedience was not an option. With a heavy heart, knowing that all the people he knew, and all the animals, except two of each kind, would die, he had to build the ark. And the sad thing is that it was the people’s own fault. God was very sorry that He had made humans.

However, I wouldn’t be too quick to point fingers at the people in Noah’s time, because when I look around me today, I see quite a few signs of that kind of life. People who openly disregard God. Even people who have only bad things to say about God. I wonder, when people are slandering God like that, does He again regret making humans?

The answer is a resounding no, because remember: God loved humans so much that He allowed Jesus to become human, not only to give death a deathblow, but to carry the guilt for our sins on His shoulders.

Just as the Lord loved Noah, so God loves you, no matter what you’ve done or what you never managed to do. So why is it different now than in Noah’s time? The answer is Jesus! He made it possible for us not to die under God’s judgment.

Noah stood alone in a corrupt world, but he was not alone. God loved him and saved him. Today, that same love lives in Jesus, who came to show us that God will never leave us or forsake us.

Father, sometimes I feel like I’m alone, but I know that You are there for me. Help me to live as Your child and show the world how special You are in my life …

Remind yourself today that you are never alone and say out loud, “God loves me, and He is here with me.”
Send an encouraging message to someone who is currently feeling alone or discouraged and be a reminder to them of God’s presence.
Make time for quiet time and intentionally experience God’s presence. Just sit for a few minutes without words and know: He is with you.
