When animals get hurt, they hide. Maybe because they don’t know what to do about the hurt. Sometimes people are like that too. Especially the strong ones. You’re not allowed to say you’re sick. You have to be the strong one. There’s no time now for sitting down and we simply go on.

But that’s not the right way to do it.

When you struggle, whether it be your finances, health or relationships, it doesn’t matter what, put up your hand. Go to God. At the throne, or as the Bible calls it, a throne of grace, we can get help.

It will be hard to accept help if we don’t open our hands. Therefore, if we want to receive, we must kneel before the throne of grace and pray. This is where we will receive grace and help. It is promised: ¹⁶Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (King James Version)

God provides relief. He will help us; that is what He does. But it seems there is a condition about time: help comes at the right time. Help always comes at the right time, even if it doesn’t feel like that to us.

If we have a problem, we want it sorted out immediately. How many times have I lost it because the solution to my problem hasn’t yet come knocking at the door? I start getting impatient and restless. I start asking questions, normally ending my tirade with: “Lord, are you still listening?”.

The problem is that our right time and God’s right time aren’t always aligned. We don’t have the helicopter view. God has. Most of the time we can’t see around the corners of life. God can. We don’t always have the wisdom to wait for the hourglass to empty, for the hardship to make an impact, and to move on. God does.

It’s not easy, but sometimes we just have to sit back and trust, and wait and know, hold onto God, and listen for the knock on the door offering help. Yes, it’s not as quick as Uber Eats. But it is coming, just wait and see! Help comes at the right time.

Just remember, the help that is coming isn’t dependent on what I do or don’t do. Yes, I have to put up my hand. I have to put down my bag of hardship at God’s throne. I must go on my knees and unpack everything in prayer, again and again. But that’s where my responsibility ends.

The rest is God’s work. God gives the solution to us out of grace, which means it is free. He will show up. He will give relief. Help will come, because that’s what God does.

Therefore, we also have to ask for wisdom to wait until the time is right for the right help regarding my challenge.
