I’m always amazed at people who can sit for hours setting out dominoes in a specific pattern so that when they tap the first one, it falls on the next domino, starting a chain reaction that eventually knocks over all the dominoes in the long sequence.

For days, people set out thousands and thousands of dominoes that fall over within minutes. The whole chain reaction is caused by someone knocking over the first one.

This might be putting it rather simply, but that is how I see God, creation and mankind. God planned long to create mankind, and prepared the world and everything else for that first day when He first breathed life into man. That was the first domino that was knocked over and so mankind gave its first step.

God is the one who started everything. But in the same way, He will be the one that ends the whole process. One day, we don’t know when, He will put an end to it and prevent a domino from falling on the next one. Suddenly, in an instant, the whole process will come to a stop.

¹⁴Our Master, Jesus Christ, is on his way. ¹⁵He’ll show up right on time, his arrival guaranteed by the Blessed and Undisputed Ruler, High King, High God.

God started the process and He will end it. But we need not be afraid, because the One who will decide when the end will be is God who overflows with love and who cares so much for each of us. God is not waiting for a time to catch us out. No, it is exactly the opposite. God wants as many people as possible to find Him.

It is good to hear once again who our God is. He is the only Ruler. There is no one like Him. There is no one above Him. No other ruler is close to being like Him.

In the world, leaders fight about who is the biggest and strongest. The Americans say they are. China says they have the most influence, because they are the biggest manufacturer in the world. And North Korea is barking at their heels, because they have the biggest bombs.

But they are not even a faction of the One who is the origin of everything. He made them. Someone rules the rulers of the world and that is our God, the Almighty; the blessed God.

God is the only Ruler. He is the King of all kings and the Lord over all rulers. At any moment He can put a stop to any other ruler’s dominoes and stop him from ruling.

All power comes from Him. You see, He puts in the energy to knock over that first domino. If He had not decided to tap that first one, all of them would still be upright.

Make sure that your image of God is in line with the real picture. Glorify Him by living as a child of the King.

Lord, You are the beginning and the end of everything. The Alpha and the Omega. I know that if You are at the beginning and at the end of my life, I need not fear anything. Amen.
