Down the alley!
Why do people argue so easily, often about things we’re not fully informed about? I think it happens that we present it as the truth, and come to believe it so completely that it becomes the truth for us. Then we proclaim it with so much passion that we start influencing other people until they believe it too.
Watch out! This is certainly not building God’s Kingdom; it’s breaking it down. Maybe we shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously. Maybe we should evaluate what we believe more strongly against what the Bible says. Asking: “Maybe those who taught me this stuff didn’t understand everything so well?” Step back and make sure that everything gets the green light before you try and force your beliefs on others.
Because, said Paul, while we can say what we like about all these things, there is one great truth only: 19But God’s truth stands firm like a great rock, and nothing can shake it. It is a foundation stone with these words written on it: “The Lord knows those who are really his,” and “A person who calls himself a Christian should not be doing things that are wrong.”
On the one hand, this is a warning to us to be 100% sure of your case, because God is watching us – and I’m not trying to scare anyone. It doesn’t matter how wharra wharra people are, there is one certainty: God knows you. He knows about you. He knows your plans. He knows what you think. He knows what you say. He knows how your life is going.
Does that make you feel a little bit ashamed?
On the other hand, this is an incredible promise: God will never let you go. He will protect you. He can see the road ahead and He knows where you’re heading. He already knows what is going to happen tomorrow, and, yes, He can intervene with a miracle or two if it’s not what He wants. He already knows how you’re going to react in that situation, because He knows you very well. Because He is the One who made you!
Thank goodness!
The warning and promise are followed by some advice: Consciously choose to walk the right road. Don’t turn off. Those other roads look quite rosy in the beginning, but around the next corner the colour starts fading and you quickly discover that it is the road to death.
We’re tempted away from the right road and then struggle to negotiate the narrow, winding roads. With all the knocks and pain, you take a battering to escape the road to death.
Many, many relationships and marriages fall down those stinking drains.
Therefore, this advice today: Stop doing the wrong things and do what is right. You know what is wrong. You know what is right. That little bulb in your mind that lights up when you hear about right and wrong: Work on that.
May God help each of us along the road of life.

Reflection
Is what you stand for really right?
Is your street right, or a narrow, dark alley?
Is there space for turning back?
Prayer
Lord, thank you for Your Holy Spirit reminding me when I’m taking the wrong turn. Please help me to obey when You kindly show me the right way to go. Amen.
