Dream, ask, and receive
As parents, we want the best for our children. We choose the best schools for them. We spend hours next to sports fields. We buy the best equipment and everything they need to walk the path of success in life.
We would like them to achieve something in life. We absolutely believe in their dreams and will give and do whatever it takes to help them reach them, even if we have to make sacrifices ourselves.
So, when they come to us and ask for something to achieve their dream, we’ll gladly give it to them, if it is within our means, of course. It’s simpler to give when children contribute their part and when you share a healthy relationship.
We’re no different from God. God is also a Father who dreams with His children. He also wants those dreams to come true in the lives of His children, and He helps us to achieve them.
Therefore, we can and should lay down our hearts’ desires before God. But this can only happen within a healthy, intimate relationship, ensuring our desires align with His will.
15And how bold and free we then become in his presence, freely asking according to his will, sure that he’s listening. And if we’re confident that he’s listening, we know that what we’ve asked for is as good as ours.
How often do people shake their fists in the air because they don’t get what they ask of God? They don’t understand, because the Bible says that we can ask and He will provide.
But if we don’t receive, the fault lies not with God, but with ourselves. The promise that God gives has a condition: we must ask within the will of God. Will what I ask help me to achieve God’s dream? Does it fit within His will for my life?
Many people don’t find the answer because they don’t even know what God’s dream or will is for their life.
If my son and I sit together and dream about his future, maybe about him having his own business, he’ll know what to ask me for and what not. If he wants money to buy a race car, he’ll know I’m not going to help him, because it’s not going to help him achieve that dream.
So, what is God’s dream for you? Where does God want to take you? When you have the answer, you will know what to ask for and then the promise that God will give it to you will also be true for you.
Therefore, take your relationship with God seriously. Make sure you’re on the same page. Get to know God’s dream for your life and live within His will.
Then you will know what to ask for and you will believe that God will give it to you.

Reflection
How much time do you invest in your relationship with God?
Do you know God’s dream for your life?
Does God answer when you ask?
Prayer
God, I admit I don’t know enough. My deepest desire is to spend more time with You, to fully grasp Your dream and will for my life, enabling me to ask for what aligns with Your purpose and truly receive. Amen.
