God's word in today's world

God can!

Where do you go when you need help? To someone in a position to help you, of course. If you have a health problem, a trained doctor is the answer. If you want to buy a house, you knock on the bank’s door and apply for a loan. If there are problems with the car, you take it to the nearest mechanic to have it checked.

If life is too hard and your problems just can’t be solved, where can you go? There is only One who has the power to do something about it, namely God. God is the final stop. He is the most powerful, the greatest God who is still involved with His children every day.

Letitia (not her real name) cannot stop praising the greatness of God:

I would like to testify of God’s greatness in my and my husband’s lives. I found out I was pregnant, and we were very excited. Time passed and at my 24-week scan, the doctor told us we were expecting a girl.

I was so excited that I WhatsApped everyone to tell them we were expecting a little girl. The next day was a normal day, but in the afternoon, something didn’t feel right, and I asked my mom to take me to the hospital.

We then found out my water had broken. The doctor told me I only had 7% amniotic fluid left, but that our little girl was still OK. We were going to try to keep her in my womb as long as possible so that she could still grow.

My husband and I were in shock and cried a lot.

Cari was born a week later at 25 weeks. She was tiny and weighed only 700 grams. When I first saw her in the incubator, it was hard for my mother’s heart, because she was so small with so many machines and pipes and monitors around her.

Unfortunately, I had to start working again, so that I could take my maternity leave when my little girl could come home. She was in the NICU unit for four months. It was rough, it was genuinely hard.

There are no words to describe the painful, heavy and dark times my husband and I experienced, but we trusted in God and He carried us through. He gave us the strength to keep holding on.

Cari was discharged from the hospital after four months. The Lord blessed her with a fighting spirit, and she is doing very well.

God helped us in a challenging time. He helped and blessed Cari to grow well. In time, I realised again how dependent I am on God for His strength, care and guidance. I know that to receive it, I had to have an intimate relationship with Him, even in the storm.

I just wanted to share that miracles still happen, and I want to testify to God’s greatness.

10-11The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does.

Are you serious about your relationship with God like Letitia? Because here you get to know Him as the strongest God who is always there for you too.

Scripture
1 Peter 5:8-11

Reflection
How great is your God?
Is He more powerful than your problems?
How is your relationship with Him going?

Prayer
Dear Father, I believe with my whole heart that all the power is in You and that You are still an involved God. Help me to live in such a way that I glorify Your Name all the time. Amen.
