God helps! Even through Noot vir Noot.
Aha! The best news ever. I really need it. We all need it. Even if our friends drop us, even if our family simply disappear in times of crisis, someone is always there for us: 17… the Master stood by me …
Elzette’s true story about how God never abandoned her and cared for her in a very special manner really touched me:
I would like to tell my ‘Noot vir Noot’ story.
Some years ago, I went to Auckland Park to audition. When I didn’t get feedback from the production team within a few weeks, I assumed that I hadn’t made it.
It was a few months later that Elsa contacted me and said that I had been selected. I was so excited! However, the program would only be recorded a few months later and they would contact me again closer to the time.
I should mention here that at the time of the audition both my husband and I had jobs and that was no dark cloud on the horizon predicting unemployment or loss. We were an everyday, middle-income family who just made it financially every month.
More than two years passed from the audition to the recording of the program, and in those two years our family’s financial position changed drastically. Both my husband and I were retrenched and at the time of the recording, our financial situation had worsened to the extent that we would not have been able to pay the next instalment on our bond.
I won the first round and my prize money came to approximately R37 000! The second round was recorded shortly thereafter and even though I was the first to go, I still won more than R5 000.
In those days, R42 000 covered our family’s expenses for three months – three months that made the difference between sinking and swimming! In those three months, both my husband and I eventually succeeded in getting jobs again, and not only could we quickly settle our outstanding debts, we could also buy a house in a better neighbourhood close to the children’s schools and make many other improvements to our lives.
And as they say, here’s the kicker: When the first program was broadcast and we were watching it, I couldn’t answer some of the questions that I answered correctly during the recording of the program!!! I was perplexed and rather confused, until I realised Who had provided those answers to me. At the right time!
That’s our God. And this is just one example from many in my life that I can mention to prove: God will NEVER drop you. Simply BELIEVE. PRAY and ASK for his HELP. BELIEVE. And at the same time thank Him for (again) helping you in and through every “crisis” in your life. Sometimes it seems as if He is not going to do it, but at the right time He opens the right doors.
There are many stories about how God never abandons us. When it feels as if everything and everybody rejects us, forgets us and abandons us, we must look around us. God is there. God is there! He will never abandon us!

Reflection
Where do you stand alone?
What is your crisis?
What must you do to see God in your crisis?
Prayer
Lord, I stand alone. I can’t go on. Please show Yourself to me. Show me what to do. Please hold my hand, don’t let it go. Amen.
