God's word in today's world

God speaks

I am often astounded by how God just never gives up. I can see in my own life how He has rescued me from the desert again and again. He doesn’t give up. If one way doesn’t work, he tries from another angle.

James gives a glimpse into his life:

I had an advantage over many others because I grew up in a “church house”. I was a youth leader. My brother was a pastor, and my father, an elder, but I never really knew Jesus.

I contracted a brain virus and only through his grace I was healed completely. A week later, Jesus talked loudly to me. I’ve been given a second chance.

Before my conversion, I’ve been involved in many things: drugs, the occult, and so on.

In 1980, the Father sent an angel to me who prayed for me without ceasing for 24 years.

God doesn’t stop. God never loses hope. God doesn’t accept that some people cannot be transformed or turned around. God will try again and again. That’s why He never stays silent.

2Recently he spoke to us directly through his Son. By his Son, God created the world in the beginning, and it will all belong to the Son at the end.

In the previous dispensation, God spoke to his people through priests and prophets. He spoke through stone tablets, a bush and even fire on an altar. But approximately 2 000 years ago, a new dispensation dawned and God started speaking in a brand-new way. He speaks through his Son, Jesus.

The greatest message that Jesus brings us is one of love. The almighty God loves us so much that He is prepared to allow his Son, Jesus, to die on a cross. But the love goes further. This love takes on the guilt that we collect through the sin that we do so that we don’t have to take the punishment for it.

Jesus steps between us and the eternal fire and rescues us from the jaws of death.

What an unbelievable, wonderful, saving message is this for each one of us! And God doesn’t stay silent about it. He does everything in his power for his children to hear the message. He even uses angels to pray for us, even if it takes 24 years, as in James’ case.

It is good to hear the message again. It is good to know that God still speaks today. It is good to know that the time is right now. Let us keep praying. Maybe we are the angels that shouldn’t stop praying.

Scripture
Hebrews 1:1-4

Reflection
Do you hear God?
What does Jesus mean to you?
What does Jesus mean for your loved ones?

Prayer
Jesus, how can one thank You for coming at the right time to hang on a cross for my sin? Such an act of love is too huge for me to comprehend. But out of gratitude I want to go and live this love in my world today. Amen.
