The devil makes it difficult for a person. He knows where your weak point is and will always hammer it. He doesn’t stop, and he never gets tired. It’s as if he believes he will break through with the next knock of the hammer.

We know that the devil was defeated on the cross. We know he came out as a loser there and had to leave the ring, but that doesn’t mean he won’t try again and again.

All who are children of God are subject to this. Some succumb to the temptations and can’t stand firm, and the next morning they wake up filled with guilt. We cannot resist the devil on our own.

Peter (not his real name) pleads with me to pray for him.

I have a problem with pornography. I am so bitterly sorry that I have let the Lord down so many times, after asking for forgiveness, only to fall back into it again on another day.

I am a child of the Lord, but I sometimes fall and cannot resist the temptation.

I was so embarrassed this morning. I pleaded with the Lord to forgive me and asked Him to wash me clean with the blood of Jesus. I called the sin by its name and pleaded with the Lord over and over to forgive me.

I am so afraid God will turn His back on me. I didn’t look at it every day, but just when I think I’m spiritually strong, Satan comes and breaks everything down!

The biggest disappointment is that I am currently doing a course at the church, but then I fall into sin. I don’t know if the Lord will ever forgive me. He has put this course on my path, and I want to be fully dedicated to doing it, but Satan is so cunning now in my life, marriage and relationship with my children.

I have no one I can go to to pray with me so that I can ask for forgiveness and to make me spiritually stronger. Please pray for me!

Every house has its own problems. Everyone has a weak spot, and we must realise that we will not manage it on our own. We need to get reinforcements. We need to reach out and ask for help. Here is a tried and tested recipe that can work for every child of God: ⁷So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him make himself scarce. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time.

Here are two assignments and a promise. Put your hand in God’s hand and resist sin consciously. Then the promise in your life will come true: the devil will go away when he sees that you and Pieter no longer fall for his temptations.

Father, You know my weak spot. You know where I keep slipping up. I come to put my hand in Your hand again and will resist the temptations with everything in me. Please give me strength. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
