Bradley gives me a simple picture of sin: Being a sinner you can compare yourself to a pig and sin then will be mud. We know that a pig likes to roll in the mud. This is the status of the sinful nature.

When we get saved we receive a new nature, the nature of sheep. We follow Jesus. But sometimes a sheep slips and falls. Then mud will stick to it. But a sheep does not stay in the mud the way a pig does. No, it gets up, shakes off the mud and walks on.

It therefore does not make sense for a child of God to stay down when he has sinned or made a mistake. No, he should get up because the mud did not make him a pig. His nature stays the same.
