Paul helps Titus by sharing guidelines for how men, and women too, have to live their faith in practice. ²Guide older men into lives of temperance, dignity, and wisdom, into healthy faith, love, and endurance.

This verse is really filled with meaning. It’s the fifth time that we’re looking at it. This time on how to live love practically. And we’ve talked about how to live love often too. So, let’s hear what Kobus has to say:

My wife suffers from lupus and it’s very hard for her. This is an incurable disease; it can only go into remission with treatment.

This makes strange things go through her head. She often reads about people who divorce and commit suicide because of the disease.

I said to her we’ve been married for 31 years and we’ve known each other probably for 37 years. There’s no way I would leave her to go through this alone.

I made a promise the day we got married and will support her until death parts us.

My late parents taught me to always be an example for other people. We have to be an example for others.

Thank you for our example, Kobus. Thank you for showing us what real love looks like. Love where the self takes a backseat for now. Love that sacrifices.

Like Jesus’ love. Real love that is prepared to be crucified, to die – for a bunch of sinners like us.

Thank you for showing me Jesus’ love in your way of living.

May this be true and become true in all of our lives.

Prayer
Jesus, there is no better example to teach us how to love than You. You, who were prepared to die for a bunch of sinners. I want to live love like You and like Kobus. I want to make a difference. Yes, I will give myself too. And now that I’ve prayed that, I’m afraid. Please help me! Amen.
