Love in the family
My sister-in-law sometimes helps out at a home, taking care of young babies whose parents don’t want them. They stay there until suitable homes are found for them.
It’s very sad how these children’s lives start here on earth. With their first breath, they are rejected, no, basically thrown away. Often, this throwaway child syndrome appears later in their lives, with catastrophic consequences.
We are made to belong. When God designed humanity, the idea was that children would grow up in a safe environment. What a shame that so many people simply ignore this.
Fortunately, there is a safe environment where you will never be thrown away. There is always room for everyone here, within God’s family. This is where love is always present.
It’s good to make this simple truth part of our armour again, especially in times of doubt and when we may be caught in a crisis. Many times, the evil one tries to lead us astray with his lies.
At times like these we just have to say out loud, so that we and everyone else can hear, that we are inextricably part of God’s family and that the glue that holds us together is God’s love. No one can break that.
And how do we become part of this family? 1Every person who believes that Jesus is, in fact, the Messiah, is God-born. As simple as that!
If you acknowledge that Jesus died for your sins, came to bear your punishment in your place, if you believe that He is your Saviour and are not ashamed to say it to anyone, you are part of God’s family.
Here, you receive all the benefits of every family member. Here you receive protection, and you will receive strength and wisdom to live your life here on earth correctly and successfully. When your earthly life is over, you will then live forever with the rest of the family.
But before we get there, we still have a responsibility here on earth. And this is a command: 1… If we love the One who conceives the child, we’ll surely love the child who was conceived.
When you love God, you are His child, and you must automatically love God’s other children. And it’s not always that easy, because God’s children are different and often do things in different ways.
Looking at my own family, consisting of five siblings, it often takes a lot of effort to keep the peace.
In God’s family, we must make space for each other’s differences. Despite our differences, we must hold onto our love. We should strive to let God’s love unite us, because that’s the only way we will be a healthy family.

Reflection
What does it mean to you to be part of God’s family?
Who is working on the love?
With whom should you live God’s love more?
Prayer
Father, thank you for all Your love. Thank you that I can be part of Your family. May I live Your love more and more to my fellow family members. Amen.
