I stay far away from politics. I do not comment, but we can all see that some departments are falling apart in our country. The biggest reason, in my opinion, is that people are appointed to positions they don’t know how to fill, do what they need to do, and do their jobs properly.

As the saying goes, they were promoted to incompetence. They may have been qualified for their position but not for the position after their promotion. You see, one needs wisdom and knowledge to do the job right.

And this is not unique to our country’s leadership. It happens in all countries, many businesses and even in the church. Sometimes we can learn from such people how we should not be.

Who is really wise? Who knows how to play the rules of life right? ¹³So you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here’s what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly.

One recognizes a wise person by their behaviour. The way they live their life is right. They consider others and make the world a better place for everyone who comes into contact with them.

They act wisely and, most of the time, while keeping others in mind. Wisdom does not occur in an egocentric person. On the contrary, people who only think about their own needs hurt themselves in the long run.

Such a person could make a few rands in the foreseeable future, but in the long run, they will soon be alone, with nobody wanting anything to do with them.

The wise person is known by something else, and that is humility. If you’re not humble, your head becomes top-heavy, and you soon fall over when a storm threatens.

A humble person knows his place. He knows where to lead, but he also knows where to give the glory to God and others. A humble person will never take the honour only for themself, but distribute it to all who need it.

Our country needs many such people. Our world needs many such people. We often ask the question, what can I actually do? Yes, each of us probably cannot make such a big difference, but even if we are just a drop in the bucket, a bunch of drops can fill the bucket and make quite a difference.

Make sure you know what wisdom is. Study humility and make both part of your makeup. If we can all manage just a little bit of this, the world will definitely look different. Wisdom and humility.

Prayer
Father, I need heaps of wisdom to deal with life each day. Help me to be humble and help me so that others will notice this in my life and also want to and will live like that. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
