God's word in today's world

Pray, pray and pray again

After writing the piece, Bless the wilted flowers, I sent it to three women who had said that their flowers weren’t looking so well. One asked who I was, another one didn’t respond. The third one’s answer explained clearly why her flower was wilted.

I tried to motivate her and in conclusion said that I would ask our prayer group to intercede for her. A Crossroads intercessor wrote to her as follows:

The enemy is trying to trick you. Protect yourself. I am praying Psalm 91 over you. Pray the Lord’s Prayer every day. The enemy is always on the lookout for someone to destroy, but the Father tells you to come to Him, He calls everyone who is weary and overburdened. Matthew 11:28-30.

He promises us that we’ll find rest for our souls. “Dear God and Father. Today, I bring Sussie to You and ask that You help carry her burden. The enemy wants to destroy her, but You are faithful. I help her to put on the armour as described in Ephesians 6. I anoint her with your grace and ask that You fill her heart with joy and peace. Amen.”

Sussie (not her real name) responded:

Thanks so much! As I was sitting here, I was wondering whether it wouldn’t be better to put an end to everything, because nothing matters anymore. And then this message. Praise to God! Thank you!

Prayer works. Prayer is powerful. Prayer actually saves people’s lives. Literally and figuratively. It’s a wonderful aid that God has given us. We must use it. 3… I pray for you every day, and many times during the long nights I beg my God to bless you richly.

We must intercede for one another. we must kneel before God for one another. There are times when I can’t pray. Sometimes it feels as if my attempts to pray go no further than the ceiling. During those times I know and believe that prayers by others pull me through. When I can’t, when my voice is silent, God hears my prayers prayed by others.

I don’t know how it works, but I know it works.

Let’s pray more for one another. Let’s pray for others who cannot pray or do not know how to pray.

And I can hear someone asking: “Why do you pray? You’ve prayed the same thing so many times already. Anyway, God knows what you’re going to say.” Well, my friend, it’s not God who changes, but indeed you who are changed by prayer.

Let’s pray more for one another. Let’s intercede for others who cannot pray or do not know how to pray. Your prayer may be the words that prevent that person from putting an end to everything.

And in this way God’s world is made a better place and his Name is glorified.

Scripture
2 Tim 1:3-4

Reflection
Do you pray?
Do you pray enough?
Do you pray enough for others?

Prayer
Lord, I know I have to pray. But I don’t pray enough. I don’t pray enough for those I love. Sorry, Lord! That’s why I will pray now for … Amen.
