When God comes knocking at your door, He comes to add value. The value of the roads of death that you won’t have to walk one day. Jesus paid with His life on the cross at Golgotha for this. This adds life-saving value for people.

This option is available to all people. Anyone can open the door and allow Jesus into their lives. Without prejudice, without selection, without any entry requirements.

Experience has shown God that it is easier for poor people to open their doors to Him and Jesus. Not that poor people are more receptive to life-saving gifts being handed out, but rather that people who have everything don’t need anything else.

Why would people who have everything see any necessity in allowing Jesus into their lives? I suspect this is why Jesus said it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to repent.

God chooses everybody, the prominent people, the people who have everything, and those who do not have much worth in the eyes of the world. The latter has much worth in God’s eyes, because they easily accept Him and allow Him into their lives.

⁵Listen, dear friends. Isn’t it clear by now that God operates quite differently? He chose the world’s down-and-out as the kingdom’s first citizens, with full rights and privileges. This kingdom is promised to anyone who loves God.

Let this be an example of how we should look at others. The people that the world sees as unimportant are important to God. They are the children of God and actually are the truly rich people.

This does not exclude all rich people. Remember, those who accept Jesus and believe in Him, those who love Him, are all His heirs. It doesn’t matter how thick your wallet is or how many degrees or awards hang on your wall. Anyone who accepts Jesus is welcome.

Where can true wealth be found? Not in this world. The fake wealth and status of the world distract us from true wealth. So, let’s focus on true wealth and help those people who are looking in the wrong places. Let’s do what Jesus did and tell everybody about true salvation.

Let’s also make sure that we treat everybody the same. May our way of life show everybody how to get closer to the One who does not look at worldly stuff, but see their hearts.

Father, I know I still give some people preferential treatment. I don’t know how, but it just happens. Help me to treat everyone the same and point everyone in your direction. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
