Still more grace
Genesis 4:25- 26 Adam slept with his wife again. She had a son whom she named Seth. She said, “God has given me another child in place of Abel whom Cain killed.” And then Seth had a son whom he named Enosh. That’s when men and women began praying and worshiping in the name of God.
That this chapter tells of sin again is no coincidence. Because here, at the beginning of creation and the Bible, we find the first people who, I could almost say, created sin. No, they did not invent it. They were just the first people to fall head over heels for it. And unfortunately, today we still sometimes do that too.
But this is actually not about humans and their fall into sin. It’s about God’s reaction to humans and their wrong choices. Human actions do not drive God away; His response is a continual, inexhaustible outpouring of grace.
Eve lost a wonderful son, Abel, but God filled the void with the birth of another son, Seth. But the grace did not stop there. A grandson was also born.
The story found new life in Enosh. Enosh, the grandson, initiated a profound turning point. He and his contemporaries grew serious about God, re-establishing Him as the central focus of their lives and seeking an intimate relationship with Him once more.
When the storm passes and the dust finally settles, a clear calm descends. This is the moment for reflection—the perfect time to reflect on your journey and the path ahead. The necessary introspection uncovers the scars of chaos: fratricide, suffering, and emptiness. But God consistently appears, setting humanity straight and inspiring a powerful return to His presence.
A crucial step is simply to silence the noise around us. This intentional quiet, achieved when we put down our phones and seek stillness, is the very environment where we reconnect with God. Not because He was ever gone, but because we were too busy to notice or hear Him.
Because God’s grace is unending, every wrong turn is met instantly with loads of His grace and love. With a God who responds this way, I am compelled to strive wholeheartedly toward a deeper relationship with Him.
May you also make time each day to grow in your relationship with your God.
