God's word in today's world

My pain opens doors

After a long struggle we at last fell pregnant with twins. However, halfway through the pregnancy we got the news that both boys did not make it. It was incredibly, terribly sad and it is impossible to describe how difficult it was for me and my husband. But after the caesarean, lying in bed, so many people came to visit, simply to relive and to share their own pain from many years ago.

Of miscarriages, stillborn children, depression and illness caused by this – things we never talked about and which caused so much pain to men and women. At that stage you understand very little and you have so many questions and pain, but years later I realised that the Lord used this to heal others, also for me to reflect on how very precious children are and that your job cannot be the most important in your life. God first, then your husband and then the children.

Today we have two beautiful children, gifts from God and prayed from Him. And today I am willing all the time to listen to someone who has had such a loss and it happens every day. You may mourn. It is a loss even if your child has not been born yet. He or she has already been part of your dreams and your plans. Please mourn and talk to others about this, because healing lies in making peace and by acknowledging what has happened and how bad it is.

Eventually God may use your pain to mean something to somebody else. Pain never is without purpose when you allow God to do something with it.

Freda

2 Corinthians 1:4

He comforts us every time we have trouble so that when others have trouble, we can comfort them with the same comfort God gives us.
