God's word in today's world

Take God to work

Belinda (not her real name) talks about her experience:

I want to testify about the God-change in our workplace.

I started work as a supervisor at a new subdivision. Their subdivision was going through a difficult time due to sensitive investigations in the public service.

The first day that I called a meeting in the subdivision the oldest woman there asked permission to ask something: “May we please start each week with a reading from Scripture and prayer? Not only in this new subdivision, but all the others in the same division in this building”. And this was a multicultural division.

I called the others together and the proposal was welcomed enthusiastically. We now do it on Fridays too. We ask God’s guidance for the weekend. We read from the Bible in Afrikaans, translate it into English and Southern Sotho, and pray and sing in English and Southern Sotho. Everybody loves sharing Scripture and we bless one another.

The specific subdivision’s morale was lower than low and everybody was totally demotivated for work. They were afraid to take decisions because of the investigation.

But when we invited God into our workplace and during the week encourage one another with God’s Word, the mood has changed completely. Instead of stress, we experience calm, despite everything.

There is a feeling of supernatural peace in our building. We all experience it. We work in harmony and one woman who was always easily upset even by small problems and started shouting has calmed down, and we can resolve our differences calmly.

God is great!

When God is involved things always happen differently. Just look what happens when God starts working: Instead of stress, we experience calm, despite everything.

We often have the answer to the problems, but we don’t use it. Why don’t we all do what Belinda and her colleagues did? God arrived at just the right time for their subdivision. And look how happy the passages are now!

3And then when the time was ripe, he went public with his truth. I’ve been entrusted to proclaim this Message by order of our Savior, God himself.

It is a wonderful “job” to introduce God’s message of salvation where we work and play. Yes, it hardly feels like work. It’s a feast and brings results to everybody’s lives, even the auntie that grumbles.

I would like to challenge you. Go proclaim the message of salvation everywhere you go. Take God with. Do not be embarrassed or lazy.

Scripture
Titus 1:1-4

Reflection
Is God there where you are?
What can You do to introduce Him?
When can you do it?

Prayer
Father, You are the answer. I believe that where You move things move differently. I know I should tell more about you wherever I go, but I’m afraid to make a fool of myself. Please help me. Amen.
