God's word in today's world

Talk to God

Sometimes I chat effortlessly with others; at other times, I struggle, becoming nervous and self-conscious. I concentrate so hard on saying the right thing that I don’t enjoy it at all.

It largely comes down to who the other person is. Maybe when we met previously, the person was rude. Maybe they like to argue, or they just keep people at a distance. Some people build high walls around themselves and don’t let anyone near them.

Perhaps it was a celebrity, one of those who carries an air of being out of reach. Some famous people are just like that. Fortunately, God isn’t like that. 14And how bold and free we then become in his presence, freely asking according to his will, sure that he’s listening.

Listen to this lovely true story about Pieter, who is not ashamed to talk to God, even on his knees in his office:

I experience God’s grace and blessings every day. When things go wrong, I get down on my knees and pray.

I have a small transport brokerage business. I buy space on other transporters’ trucks to transport my clients’ goods.

Sometimes when I urgently need a container, there is none available anywhere. Then I pray, and God helps me every time.

I trust Him with everything. My business, my life, my future, and my safety. When I pray to Him, I firmly believe that He will help me, and I have never been disappointed.

Recently, I prayed that a client I had lost would come back to me. That Monday, that very client called and asked me to transport a load from Johannesburg to Cape Town.

As usual, I called one of my transporters to go and load it for me. However, the owner had no trucks in Johannesburg but said she would try to find someone to pick up the load.

I went down on my knees again as usual to ask for His help.

Before I could even ask God, my cell phone rang. She had found someone to pick up my load. I knelt once more, overwhelmed with thanks.

God keeps His promises. I pray every day for people who don’t believe in Jesus. They are missing out on so much.

The line to God is always open. It’s never busy. God is a loving Father who wants to talk to you. You just have to make the call and talk to God. Put all your trust in Him and know and believe: He really does love to listen to you.
