God's word in today's world

Tanks full of grace, care and peace

The Bible writers begin and end their letters with a blessing. It’s almost like you saying to a friend: “May you have a good week!”

But the biblical blessing is much more. It’s not just an ordinary greeting, but a blessing. It’s a reminder of God’s favour and love for us.

When someone who is suffering hears such a blessing, they are encouraged. They hear that God is faithful, and this in turn gives them hope and strength. We are reminded that we are part of a larger family and don’t have to go through hardship alone.

God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit give us so much. The tanks of grace, care and peace are full, and we can draw from them at any time. These tanks will never run dry and are always available to us as God’s children.

Grace is God’s undeserved favour and love for us. Do you hear that? Undeserved favour? We deserve nothing, and yet God cannot stop Himself. We are saved by grace. It is God’s love tank that overflows for people.

God has so much compassion for us. He is our Father who truly cares for His children. His heart bleeds for us. God treats us gently and lovingly, and it is precisely this care that brings comfort and restoration.

The blessing also expresses peace. This peace is not just the absence of conflict, but an inner rest and being in harmony with God. You see, true peace, with its certainty and stability, comes only from God. How desperately we need that in today’s chaotic world!

I would like to bless you as follows: 3Let grace, mercy, and peace be with us in truth and love from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, Son of the Father!

Know that the tanks of grace, care, and peace are always full. They are always available to us. When things are rough and the dust cloud of discontent threatens to surround you, make time to come to God, so that you can fill your own tank from His tank.

However, there is a catch: when our tanks are filled, we cannot help but live in God’s truth. This is an inevitable consequence when God fills us.

We must first know God’s truth, understand what it entails, and then live by it. The way we move through life must be within the framework of God’s truth. We must allow God’s truth to guide us.

And what is the consequence? We must go and live in love.

When our tanks are filled with grace, care, and peace—when God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit overwhelm us with undeserved love—we are then naturally compelled to go and live that love in the world.

May you take some time to let God fill your tanks. May you be filled with Jesus’ grace, care and love, and may the Holy Spirit help you to live in truth and make a difference in the lives of others.

Scripture
2 John 1:1-3

Reflection
Do you believe that this blessing is for you, too?
How can you make it a reality in your life?
To whom must you show and live this blessing?

Prayer
Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit, thank you for filling my tanks. Help me to live it in my world too. Amen.
