The Holy Spirit never runs out of fuel
The day I realised that our awesome God had placed a piece of his Holy Spirit in us I was ecstatic. I could hardly believe that God would do something like that. He must really rate us high to entrust a piece of his Spirit to us.
I immediately picked up my pen to start writing about it.
Months later, my wife had to edit it before sharing it. When she got to that part, she said that I had it wrong. God didn’t only give a little piece of his Spirit, but his complete Spirit. I started looking for the scripture. And yes, it was true! God gave his complete Spirit to live in all of us that believe!
6He gave us a good bath, and we came out of it new people, washed inside and out by the Holy Spirit. Our Savior Jesus poured out new life so generously.
Jesus poured the Holy Spirit over us generously. More than enough of the Holy Spirit was given to each of us. The Holy Spirit will not lose his breath somewhere along the way. He will never say He has grown tired or that the requirements have become too high to achieve. His fuel will never run out.
How wonderful it is to realise that God not only sent Jesus to earth to die on the cross for us, but also gives us his Holy Spirit to help us on the journey ahead. God thought through this process really well. He realised that people will not be able to journey alone after conversion. Since we would hardly know what wrong things we were doing, how would we know what to do about it?
So, God gives more than enough to help us. More than enough, so that the Holy Spirit’s fuel won’t run out along the way. It doesn’t matter how many wrong things there are in your life. It doesn’t matter how big the heap of sins in your life is. The Holy Spirit is sufficient to help you along the whole journey.
Actually, it is only through the Holy Spirit that we can recognise our sin and get rid of it completely. Through his grace alone we can move the own self to the back and see our fellow man and woman. Only through his hard work in us are we able to do good works.
Henry (e-sword) says we must look for the Holy Spirit in all seriousness and attend to Him, so that we don’t put out the fire of his encouragement in us. He goes on to say that the Holy Spirit is sensitive and if we continue to resist and oppose Him, He will eventually withdraw.
May this never happen in our lives! Just imagine in what godless place we would find ourselves.
God and Jesus gave us their Spirit. More than enough of Him to help us on the road to renewal and holiness. Let’s be sensitive to his voice. Let’s listen to his advice and follow it, so that we will come to resemble our older brother, Jesus, more and more, and do what He did.

Reflection
Are you excited about the Holy Spirit in your life too?
Do you spend enough time in silence to hear the Holy Spirit?
What must you do?
Prayer
Father, how great You are! You thought further and knew that we wouldn’t be able to walk the road to holiness on our own. Thank you that Your Spirit is more than enough for each of us. Please help me to make time and to listen well to the Holy Spirit’s voice. Please help me to apply what I hear and to live a new life fully. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
