The recovery plan!
This one verse sums up the whole Gospel. When someone asks you what makes Christianity tick, just read them this verse: 10Since the appearance of our Saviour, nothing could be plainer: death defeated, life vindicated in a steady blaze of light, all through the work of Jesus.
That’s all, all that the gospel is about.
Consider intently what it says here. Jesus’ role is well-described here. He is the one who takes everything on Himself to make humans’ case right with God. Jesus is the one who comes to do the repair work Himself. Unbelievable!
God doesn’t leave the repair work to some other party to do the work for Him. No, this repair work is too important to God. That is why when He started thinking about who to send to do the repair work, there was only one candidate and that was Jesus. God knew Jesus was the only right person that He could trust 100% to do the work once and do it correctly.
And that’s exactly what He did!
Recently, a number of motor vehicle manufacturers took some flack. A series of faulty components was built into the vehicles and they had to withdraw the vehicles to replace the parts at a cost of millions of Rands. Each had a humongous recovery plan to do this.
God also put together a humongous recovery plan. Although man was not created with a faulty part. We chose to make a mistake. But still God put together a recovery plan at his own cost and implemented it, also at his own cost.
Unbelievable! No, believable, actually.
What was the solution? It is simple: the ties that bound mankind preventing them from being free, which was part of the original plan, had to be cut loose. The enemy was gaining ground and man could no longer withstand the attacks.
Therefore, God put in place an emergency recovery plan. But instead of calling everybody back to Him, like the vehicle manufacturers, He went to mankind. Eventually, his Son is the one who goes to the world of man, and by dying on the cross, He overcomes death and man is saved from the prison of death. The recovery plan succeeded 100%!
Thank goodness!
Why did God do it? Why would God go so far for sinful human beings?
In a way, this shows us a piece of God’s heart. God’s overflowing love for mankind is displayed here. When God sees his broken children, He cannot but put together a recovery programme.
It’s an extremely expensive programme, but even though it cost his Son’s life, He put the plan in motion.
Out of love!
Just for you!

What do you say to God about his recovery plan?
What do you say to others about God’s recovery plan?
What do you do as a result of God’s recovery plan?
Prayer
Father. Jesus. How does one say thank you for such an enormous recovery plan? A plan that was so expensive and pulled out all the stops. Just for me, so that the sin I do cannot become between You and me. I do not have enough words to thank You. May my way of life then say it. Amen.
