Who do people see in you
Sometimes we unnecessarily complicate simple truths. We often overthink the Holy Spirit and Jesus’ work in our lives. But it’s simple: if you accept Jesus as your Saviour and believe with all your heart that He died on the cross in your place for your sins, then you receive the Holy Spirit.
I want to share Riana’s (name changed for the sake of privacy) journey with the Holy Spirit:
For the past 10 years, the Lord has walked a very special path with me and my family. In Afrikaans, I am stopped in my tracks, and in a question-and-answer dialogue, the Holy Spirit speaks aloud to me.
It has completely changed our lives. It has changed many other people’s lives. Children’s lives have been changed. Specifically high school children.
The Holy Spirit asked me to take His message to high schools. One barn door after another has been thrown wide open, accompanied by the most wonderful experiences.
He told me exactly what to say and how to present it. The Lord’s blessing on this knocks me upside down! I get emotional every time I talk about this. His grace is indescribably great!
Suffering and great fear have opened our eyes. My family and I have learned to sit quietly at Jesus’ feet each day, becoming so heart-involved in His will for our lives that He clearly spells out our path without any doubt.
The Holy Spirit lays something so clearly on my heart and confirms it repeatedly until I’m convinced. This leaves me breathless, and I often laugh out loud as things unfold before me, allowing me to simply step forward to carry out His will.
Regardless of whether the president messes up again, the rand keeps falling, or systems in South Africa and Europe collapse, God’s Kingdom continues through us who are His disciples daily.
I look differently at everything and walk hand-in-hand with God who asks for my obedience. And it’s an awesome adventure!
It is such a wonderful story of someone walking in the footsteps of God’s Holy Spirit. We know for sure Who is in control of her life. Yes, we each have our way of walking with the Spirit, when we acknowledge that Jesus is our Lord.
2Here’s how you test for the genuine Spirit of God. Everyone who confesses openly his faith in Jesus Christ—the Son of God, who came as an actual flesh-and-blood person—comes from God and belongs to God.
Let’s make sure that people do recognise the Spirit of God in our lives. Let our way of life make other people curious about the workings of the Spirit so that they too will want to make Him a part of their lives.
Let us stand ready to share Jesus’ act of salvation, making it easier for the Spirit to convince others and take His place in their lives.
Scripture
1 John 4:1-10
Reflection
Have I accepted Jesus as my Saviour, and do I believe with all my heart in what He has done for me?
Do I trust that the Holy Spirit truly lives and works in me?
Do I make my faith unnecessarily complicated, or do I simply trust in God’s truth?
Prayer
Holy Spirit, thank you for living in me. Help me to make You more visible to the people around me. Amen.
