Working for the Lord
A friend shared with me an email conversation with a client to whom he had sold a sewing machine:
Good afternoon
I just want to thank you for the wonderful machine. I have never been as happy with a machine as I am with the one I have now. Thank you for listening to me and taking into account what I said. I can hardly believe there are still people who are prepared to listen and help.
Thank you for everything.

Good afternoon Mrs. K
Thank you for your wonderful letter. All glory for what was done goes to the Lord – according to his instructions, I simply shared his love with you. The fact that you are now happy and satisfied is my bonus. Enjoy every stitch you sew – you now have an excellent machine.
Sincerely
D
Good afternoon
I want to ask you to just bear with me, and with this letter, because your email today gave me a real wake-up call.
My dad died when I was very young and my mom never married again. I was her youngest and was born when she was 41 years old. At the time, my eldest brother was expecting his first child. My other brother is 17 years older than me.
My mom brought me up in a Christian home, but somewhere along the way, I lost everything. I lost both brothers within six months of each other and my mom at the age of 91. I became very cynical about religion, because how would I ever get through this loneliness? I couldn’t understand what I had done wrong.
My mom always said the Lord has a purpose with everything, but I never wanted to believe it until I received your email today. Only now I realise that there can still be good in life.
THANK YOU FOR OPENING MY EYES SO THAT I CAN START BELIEVING IN THE LORD AGAIN. I WILL START KNEELING BEFORE HIM AGAIN. You will never know what this really meant to me as a person.
I’m so grateful for meeting you.
Regards
Mrs. K
A salesman who only did his work as the Lord expected of him, and the impact was huge.
My friend was like Mark, a guy doing a lot of work for the Lord: 11… Bring Mark with you; he’ll be my right-hand man ….
And you?

Reflection
What does your work look like?
Does the Lord fit into it?
Do others see it sometimes?
Prayer
Lord, I want to live in such a way that others will recognize You in me. Amen.
